This was my motto starting in 2019 or 2020. I know it was front and center when I was sick in 2020 and through my decision to leave my job in 2021 as well as starting my consulting business and podcast, selling my farm and buying a place in New Mexico. I let go and trusted God and the results were amazing. It was amazing for my spiritual growth and my mental and physical health and also for my finances and professional contribution as well as integrating my work with my family and friends. I was most amazed by how much more value I could add at work when I wasn’t trying to be significant, when I was much slower to speak, when I promoted others instead of myself, when I stopped worrying about how I looked or whether I would be OK. Even to the extent to not be so proactive, but only do what was really needed. There were many things that I prayed about and got clear direction and followed it When I did, God gave me financial gifts and family and friend connection gifts, like selling my farm in TN for three times what I paid for it and then buying a place in NM with the money even though my wife and 2 of my kids had never even been to New Mexico. They all love it now and we all worked together to make it a great short-term rental and have enjoyed great connections with them and many friends and extended family as well. If I had tried to figure it out, and not trusted God, I would never have bought a place like that and never in New Mexico. I made a binding offer before the farm had sold, but the farm closed before the New Mexico property. I could not have planned that. I let go of needing to work out the answers and control the outcome and trusted God for a superior outcome.
And, as my life has gone from broken in 2020 to healthy and fulfilling in 2024, I feel myself wanting to control my life again. Since my life is working well, I want to create certain outcomes and “make it” a certain way. I am clinging to my ideas of how I want it to be and how I am going to get it there. When I am no longer at the end of my rope, I want to take control back from God. That leads to stress and before too long I will be back at the end of my rope, if I don’t change anything. So I am changing it. I am recommitting to let go and letting God, to trust it will work out the way it is supposed to. I am meditating, praying, and now doing morning pages each day and those open the communication channels to this higher guidance and I am following that. It is freeing and fun. I feel I can breathe and play! For me, a big one is to let go of wanting to be significant. That is a trap. I am already loved, worthy, and connected. My desire for significance is ego driven and brings me nothing but stress and separation.
Today, I recommitted to LGLG from a good space. If you are struggling at the end of your rope or if you are on top of the world right now, let go of control and trust God. Tune in and trust your highest guidance.
Have a great weekend!
